At Blessed William Howard we are committed to ensuring that students are fully prepared for their examinations, not only academically but also pastorally.
All year groups follow the assessment timetable to ensure that rigorous data is collect however, for years 11 and 13 these mock examinations are conducted in the same conditions as the public examinations. This ensures that students have experienced the process multiple times, hopefully reducing some of the anxiety students inevitably feel leading up to their examinations. This will allow them to perform well and realise their God give talents.
All students are provided breakfast before a morning examination form 8:30 am in the canteen. This area is used for last minute preparation as they wait for their examination to start, with students being welcomed by their tutors, pastoral leaders and class teachers.
With GCSE Exams commencing week commencing 9 May 2024, students should ensure that they have the following equipment in preparation for their exams.
- Clear plastic pencil case
- 2 Black Pens (not gel pens)
- 2 Pencils
- Ruler
- Rubber
- Protractor
- Pencil Sharpener
- Hi-lighter
- Scientific calculator
Students are permitted to take a bottle of water into the exam hall, this must be in a clear plastic bottle with the label removed
Results days
Year 13 results day - 15th August 2024
Year 11 results day - 22nd August 2024
Summer 2023 exam contingency day: Wednesday 26th June 2024
The exam awarding bodies have designated Wednesday 26th June 2024 as a ‘contingency day’ for examinations.
All summer 2024 exam candidates must therefore remain available up to and including this date should an awarding body need to use this contingency day for exams in the event of national or significant local disruption to exams in the UK.
