Duke of Edinburgh Award
We are delighted with the success of this programme, and currently boasts the largest student representation of any Staffordshire high school succeeding with the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.
This award is recognised by many employers and further education institutions as proof that a person can demonstrate using their initiative, teamwork and personal organisation skills.
In such a competitive world, it is these skills that not only better equip young people with skills for life, but also give them the edge in the jobs
The award has four elements
- Skill, (e.g. playing a musical instrument)
- Service (e.g. working with disabled children)
- Physical Activity (e.g. playing for a school team),
- Expedition over a set distance and days according to the level taken.
There are three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold. We start with the Bronze Award in Year 10.
An information evening is held every year for parents and students with an interest in signing up for the award.
