A message from Mrs McKie, Acting Headteacher
It is an honour to write to you in my capacity as Acting Headteacher. I have exciting plans that will be introduced to build upon the key values of the Blessed William Howard family. It is my firm belief that our school has the capacity to become an outstanding school and I am fully aware of what needs to be done to secure this status.
First and foremost, we need to build upon the wonderful feeling of community that exists in our school. All members of the Senior Team will, for the rest of the academic year, be regularly calling into lessons to praise good work and ensure that all students follow a firm but fair disciplinary code. I aim to improve communication channels with parents in order to inform you of your child’s excellence. I also intend to improve methods of informing you if your child does not achieve the expected standard of behaviour. I look forward to your ongoing support in keeping with the Home School Agreement which has recently been revised.
Uniform is also an issue that I intend to focus upon. I have enclosed the Uniform Policy as a reminder of what is/is not acceptable in terms of standards of dress. The Senior Leadership Team will be strictly enforcing the policy and we ask for your co-operation in this very important area of school life. We want all children to wear the correct uniform with pride and have a genuine sense of belonging to the Blessed William Howard community. If there are any financial difficulties in changing inappropriate uniform, please do not hesitate to contact your child's Head of House. I ask that all students have the appropriate uniform for the beginning of the next half-term. Again, I thank you, in anticipation, of your full support.
On another note, I am pleased to inform you that Mr Bell, the new Chief Executive Officer, has agreed to support me and the Senior Leadership Team between now and the next academic year. We look forward to the merger of our multi-academies so that Blessed William Howard can work with, and learn from, Painsley Catholic College where Mr Bell is currently based. I fully believe that our school can become every bit as successful as Painsley, which is the highest achieving school in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
Finally, I thank you again for your ongoing support. I take the trust that you, as parents, put in me and the staff of Blessed William Howard to care, guide and educate your child very seriously. I assure you that we will work selflessly and tirelessly to ensure that your child’s ambitions and God-given talents are realised. I believe that we are at the start of an exciting journey, which will see Blessed William Howard develop into an outstanding Catholic school. I commend the staff for their commitment and dedication. I am blessed to have them. I also thank the students for supporting me in this stage of development.
I aim to build on the success of the past, to strengthen the values and achievements of the present, and to prepare for the developments and exciting challenges of the future.
We are happy to show parents around our school at any time and will be delighted to speak to you. Please do not hesitate to contact the school in order to clarify any issues or to arrange an appointment.
L McKie (Mrs)
