Chocolate ‘Bake Off’ raises £525 for Cancer Charity
Students at Blessed William Howard took part in a cake sale and Bake Off Style competition in order to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Care.
As well as bringing in cakes to sell, students were asked to bake their own chocolate based ‘showstopper’, which would be judged in a competition.
“The competitors’ cakes were amazing, really creative and demonstrated a great deal of technical skill as well as imagination,” commented Head Judge, Helen Kay – Assistant Headteacher at Blessed William Howard.Almost 50 showstoppers were submitted by students throughout the school.
After much deliberation by the judging panel, made up of both staff and students, the winner of the competition was awarded a prize trophy. Congratulations to Sarah Palmer (15) who won with her amazing chocolate layer ‘BWH’ cake. Sarah was also awarded 500 points for Kolbe House. All students who entered did so well they were awarded 50 points each.
The proceeds from the cake sale came in at an impressive £525.
