BWH Production of The Wizard of Oz Impresses

A cast of over 50 student performers supported by a band of almost 20 student musicians performed ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at Blessed William Howard Catholic High School last week.

The first performance was to an audience of almost 200 children from invited primary schools with two further evening performances for parents / carers and friends of the school.

The production was the result of many months of hard work demonstrating how well the different departments of the school can work together, including Drama, Music, dance / choreography (PE Department), costume design (Textiles) and scenery design by the Art Department.

To produce a show that involves such a large part of the school community, staff and students working together, is no easy undertaking.  However, as with all things that require a great deal of effort, the end result was truly amazing and I would like to congratulate everyone who was involved.” commented Headteacher, Mr Phil Smith.

The audiences were also delighted with the final result, with many parents commenting on the high quality of the production.  The Parent Teacher and Friends Association also supported the school by providing refreshments during the intervals.

Head of Drama, Miss Nicola Tildesley commented, “I am so proud of all the students who took part, their talent, dedication and support of each other has been second to none.  They really were a great team and produced an outstanding and professional show which will be remembered by the audience and the participants for years to come.”
